How it works

In Belgium and France the school year depends on the calendar year of birth: a child starts primary school (1re primaire in Belgium, CP in France) in September of the year they turn 6. School is compulsory from 5 in Belgium and education from 3 in France. Repeated or skipped years are not taken into account.
